Centurion Petrol Tracked Wheelbarrow Dumper 212cc 7HP with Extendable Steel HopperSpecial Price $2079 Regular Price $2599
Which landscaping machine do you need?
Choose by the job. A stump grinder removes tree stumps, a trencher digs narrow trenches for irrigation and cables, and a motorised wheelbarrow carries heavy loads so you are not pushing them by hand. If your ground is soft or uneven, look at the tracked model.

Stump grinders: remove a stump without digging it out
A stump grinder uses a spinning toothed wheel to chew a stump down into wood chips, so you do not have to dig it out or pull it from the ground. The Ducar Stump Grinder has an 18HP engine and a 300mm cutting wheel with nine tungsten carbide tipped teeth. It cuts up to 400mm below ground, which leaves room to cover the area with soil or turf.
At 76cm wide on 14 inch tyres, it can fit through many side gates, but measure yours first. Before you start, clear away rocks, wire and loose soil around the stump, because they can damage the teeth or be thrown out by the wheel.
Trenchers: dig narrow, even trenches for irrigation and cables
A trencher, also called a trench digger or trenching machine, cuts a narrow trench with a powered chain. It is a good fit for long runs of irrigation pipe, conduit or cable, where digging by hand would be slow and an excavator would disturb much more ground.
The Ducar Trench Digger cuts a 100mm wide trench at set depths of 150mm, 300mm, 450mm or 600mm, using a 2000mm chain with 27 carbide alloy blades. It weighs 205kg and is 92cm wide, so check your access and how you will unload it. Ask a licensed electrician or plumber what depth your cables or pipes need before you dig.
Motorised wheelbarrows: wheels or tracks?
A motorised wheelbarrow, also called a power barrow or petrol wheelbarrow, uses an engine to carry the load. Both Centurion models use a Ducar 212cc 7HP engine, carry up to 300kg and have three forward gears and one reverse.
- Wheeled: the Centurion Motorised Wheelbarrow has 4WD skid steering, a built-in steel dump box and a shorter 136.4cm body, compared with 158.7cm for the tracked model.
- Tracked: the Centurion Tracked Wheelbarrow Dumper has rubber tracks for grip on mud, sand and gravel. It is the narrower of the two at 71cm, with a detachable, extendable hopper for bulky loads.
Before you start digging or grinding
Check for buried services first. If you are the one digging, lodge a free request with Before You Dig Australia and allow up to two business days for plans. These plans do not usually show private pipes and cables inside your property, so consider a professional locator as well.
- Read the operator manual for your machine before first use.
- Wear eye and hearing protection, gloves and sturdy boots.
- Keep children, pets and bystanders well clear, as these machines can throw debris.
- Stop the engine and let it cool before refuelling or clearing a blockage.
- Plan how you will unload the machine. The stump grinder weighs 136kg in its crate and the trench digger 210kg.
Landscaping equipment FAQs
What equipment do I need to landscape a large yard?
It depends on the job. Use a stump grinder to remove tree stumps, a trencher to dig narrow trenches for irrigation or cables, and a motorised wheelbarrow to move soil, gravel, paving and other heavy materials. If you are also clearing trees, a wood chipper and a log splitter deal with the branches and timber.
How deep can a stump grinder cut?
The Ducar Stump Grinder cuts up to 400mm below ground and reaches up to 515mm above ground. It uses a 300mm cutting wheel with nine tungsten carbide tipped teeth.
Does a stump grinder remove the roots?
It removes the stump and any roots within its cutting path. Roots outside that area stay in the ground and usually break down over time. To plant or build in the same spot, you may need to grind a wider area and clear out the wood chips.
Is a trencher the same as a trench digger?
Yes. Trencher, trench digger and trenching machine are all common names for a machine that cuts a narrow trench using a powered digging chain. The Ducar Trench Digger is this type of machine.
How deep and wide does the Ducar Trench Digger dig?
It cuts a 100mm wide trench, with adjustable depths of 150mm, 300mm, 450mm and 600mm. Its rated capacity is 60 metres per hour. Your actual speed depends on the ground, so expect it to be slower in hard or rocky soil.
Is a motorised wheelbarrow the same as a power barrow or mini dumper?
The names overlap. Motorised wheelbarrow, power barrow and petrol wheelbarrow usually describe the same type of machine. Mini dumper and tracked dumper are often used for tracked models such as the Centurion tracked wheelbarrow dumper, although they can also refer to larger machines.
Should I choose a wheeled or tracked motorised wheelbarrow?
Choose tracks if you regularly work on mud, sand, gravel or uneven ground, or need the narrower 71cm width to fit through tight access. The wheeled Centurion has 4WD and a compact 136.4cm length, and its dump box is built in. The tracked model has a detachable, extendable hopper and gas spring assisted tipping.
How much can a motorised wheelbarrow carry?
Both Centurion models are rated to carry up to 300kg, with a maximum operating slope of 18 to 20 degrees and a top speed of 5km/h. Heavy materials such as wet soil, gravel and pavers can reach the weight limit before the hopper is full, so load by weight and not by how full it looks.
Do I need to check for underground services before digging?
Yes. If you are doing the digging, lodge a free request with Before You Dig Australia (BYDA) first, and allow up to two business days for plans to arrive. BYDA plans do not usually show private pipes and cables inside your property, so consider using a professional locator as well.
Should I buy or hire a stump grinder or trencher?
Hiring can make sense for a single small job. Buying is usually worth pricing up if you have repeat work, several stumps or long trench runs, or a property where you would use the machine over a number of years. Compare the total hire cost, including transport, with the purchase price of the machine.
