Most homes need a spare bed a few nights a year and a comfortable sofa the rest of the time. The Lume does both without a heavy steel mechanism or a mattress stored in the cupboard.
By day it is a low, relaxed corduroy sofa. When guests stay, the foam base folds out flat into a bed, and the metal-framed arm and back blocks stay in place to frame it. Move the modules, and it also works as a daybed or a long chaise for reading or a lazy afternoon.
The whole body is 30 density compressed foam, so there are no springs to wear through and no bar across the middle of the bed. The green corduroy has a soft ribbed feel that suits an apartment, a study or a kids room.
It comes vacuum-packed in a single box, which makes it easy to carry up stairs or into a small space. Unwrap it, let the foam recover, add the two pillows, and it is ready.
